Privacy Policy

Overview

SturdiLift is a personal fitness tracker for iOS and Android: workouts, lifts, body weight and measurements, progress photos, meals, supplements and what they cost. This policy explains what data we collect, how it is used, and your rights.

Data we collect

Device identifier. When you first open the app, a random device ID is generated and stored on your device. It associates your data with your device — no name, email address, or personal identity is required to use the app.

Fitness data you enter. Workout plans, strength logs, body weight and measurements, meals and macros, supplements, gym memberships and purchases. This data is transmitted to our servers to enable syncing and backup. We never sell it, never use it for advertising, and never share it with any other third party — with one exception: if you use the AI features and consent to the disclosure, the photo you scan is sent to Anthropic as described under “Third-party AI” below.

Progress photos. Progress photos are stored only on your device. We store the date, the angle, and a note; the image file itself is never uploaded to our servers. Deleting the app deletes the photos.

Sign in with Apple or Google (optional). If you sign in, we store the unique identifier the provider gives us, an email address, and the name it returns if you elect to share it. With Apple’s Hide My Email, the address we store is the relay address Apple generates. Signing in links that identifier to your existing device account so your data carries across devices.

Purchase information. If you upgrade to Pro, payment is processed by Apple or Google. RevenueCat, our subscription management provider, processes your purchase receipt to activate your subscription. We receive a confirmation of your subscription status but never see your card number or billing details.

Motion and activity (optional). If you grant motion permission, the app reads your step count on-device to show daily activity. Step data is processed on your device.

App usage. The app records a small number of product events — which screens you open, when the paywall is shown, and whether a purchase succeeded — along with the app version, the platform, and a session identifier. We use these only to understand which parts of the app are used and where people get stuck. They are sent to our own servers, never to an advertising network or analytics vendor, and they never include the contents of your logs, meals, measurements, or photos.

Apple Health (optional). If you connect Apple Health, SturdiLift reads weight, steps, nutrition, active energy and workouts from HealthKit to display them in the app, and writes the weight, body fat, workouts and meals you log back to Apple Health. Data read from Apple Health stays on your device unless you explicitly save it into your records. We never use Apple Health data for advertising, marketing, or data mining, never store it in iCloud, and never send it directly to any third party. You can revoke access at any time in the Health app.

Data we do not collect

We do not collect your phone number, location, or contacts. Apart from what a sign-in provider gives us, as described above, we do not collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information. We do not run advertising or sell your data to third parties.

How your data is stored

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest. If you have not signed in, your device ID is the only key linking your data to you.

Third-party AI (Anthropic)

Two features send data to Anthropic, PBC (“Claude”), a third-party AI provider in the United States: the meal-photo scanner and the workout-plan scanner.

What is sent. The photo or document you capture — a plate of food, a nutrition label, or a printed workout plan. We do not send your name, email address, or account identifiers.

Your consent. Before any image is sent, the app shows a disclosure that names Anthropic and describes what will be shared, and asks for your permission. You can decline, and these features will not send your data.

How it is handled. The image is analysed and discarded; we do not store it. Anthropic processes this data under its own privacy commitments and, per its commercial API terms, does not use data submitted through its API to train its models. See anthropic.com/legal/privacy.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app: open Profile, tap Delete my account, and confirm. You may also email us at the address below to request deletion, and we will permanently delete your records within 30 days.

Children

SturdiLift is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
